Niels van Daatselaar, Co-founder & CEO at TreasurUp, on building a white label treasury platform for banks.
About Niels
Niels started his career in M&A in Amsterdam and Hong Kong and then became the business manager of Global Sales and head of electronic distribution at Global Financial Markets, where he built a new Foreign Exchange Platform alongside Marien, TreasurUp’s CTO. He is currently the CEO of TreasurUp, which won an innovation campaign at Rabobank in 2016.
Key Themes from the Podcast: Gaps in Online Commercial Banking
In the conversation with PCN, Niels explains how many banks struggle to keep pace with digital expectations in commercial banking, even as they excel in retail innovation. Corporate clients often face clunky portals, limited FX tools and little integration with their own systems.

The podcast highlights how TreasurUp fills these gaps with white‑label modules that banks can integrate quickly while preserving their own brand and client relationships.
From Moonshot Idea to Global White‑Label Platform
The episode also traces TreasurUp’s origins in Rabobank’s Moonshot programme and its evolution into a standalone venture backed by Rabobank and OFX. Niels shares lessons on building a scalable architecture, validating features with more than 300 corporates and winning awards such as “Best New Treasury Technology 2021”.
For listeners from banks and FinTechs, the story offers a practical blueprint: start with a clearly defined use case (FX hedging), validate continuously, then extend into adjacent areas such as cash visibility, forecasting and light TMS capabilities – always in close cooperation with bank partners.
